Preventing and Overcoming Eye Infection

You never feel itchy eyes, red and poo eye excess to almost cover the vision? Be careful! If not promptly treated, the disease can infect others and the gravity of one family can get it all. Pink eye is a state infamasi or infection of the conjunctiva (a transparent membrane that sits between the eyelids, or more simply the whites of the eyes), so it is also known as conjunctivitis. Inflammation will cause the small blood vessels of the conjunctiva overall widened so that it will cause the eye to be pink or red.

Pink eye can be caused by viral, bacterial, allergic reactions, and in some cases because newborns can not tear open perfect but it will easily spread to the eye next to it.

Viral infection, commonly associated with upper respiratory tract infection or common cold. If caused by a viral infection, the symptoms will watery eyes, red, accompanied by a sense of prop.

Bacterial infection, usually caused by Staphylococcus bacteria, and Pneumoccocus. In addition to these symptoms as above, the eyes will be sore and covered with secretions (Belek) greenish yellow. The eyes are also very sticky and difficult to open especially when I wake up in the morning. Patients also feel like smth or feeling lump on the eye (like any object into the eye).

Because of allergies, usually directly on a pair of eyes, itchy, watery eyes and there is swelling of the eyelid. In some swelling and looked a picture as clear bag filled with fluid.

In newborns, the tear ducts do not open completely, but the eyes look red, the baby will look like tears and hold (in the eye near the nose) although was not crying.

Pink eye just about parts of the eye and rarely interfere with vision. However, in cases of allergy may be accompanied by nasal congestion from irritation of the skin around the eyes if the eye continuously removing water. In severe eye infection, the infection can spread to the nose.

So, how to handle it?

Must be distinguished based on the cause. In viral infections, dengnan provide cold compresses and lubricants or artificial tears to alleviate the symptoms. In some cases, may be given anti-inflammatory eye drops. Viral infections usually worse on the third day to five and get better by itself in less than three weeks. In bacterial infection antibiotics will be given in the form of eye drops or eye ointment according to the clinical picture and degree of severity.

In the case of allergies, cold compresses and artificial tears will also relieve symptoms. In addition, doctors can provide a variety of clinical drug dependent. The important thing to remember, do not let the child rub his eyes, because it will trigger more severe allergic reactions.

Meanwhile, the preventive measures for transmission can be done in several ways, including:

  1. Do not swim when she was infected.
  2. Do not borrow from each other towels.
  3. Distinguish pillowcase patients with other family members.
  4. It's safer to use wipes (disposable waste) than a handkerchief.
  5. Diligent hand washing.
  6. Not borrow each other eye drops.

These steps are important because the baby's parents could potentially transmit the infection to other family members, including parents themselves. And vice versa. Children who are infected should not attend school until declared cured.
